FAQs
EV charger questions
How long does it take to install a home EV charger?
Most home installations take around half a day to a day, depending on the distance from your consumer unit to the charger and whether any upgrades are needed.
Do I need off-street parking?
For a home charger, you’ll normally need a driveway or other off-street parking, so the cable doesn’t run across a public pavement.
Will my electrics need upgrading?
Sometimes. We check your main fuse, consumer unit and earthing before installing. If an upgrade is needed, we’ll explain it and include it in your quote.
Does the charger need to be a smart charger?
Yes. New home chargers in Great Britain must have smart functions, which also let you schedule charging for cheaper off-peak electricity rates.
