If the report finds any problems, we explain them in plain English and can quote for the remedial work, so you can get a satisfactory certificate without chasing another contractor.

FAQs

Testing and EICR questions

How often do landlords need an EICR?

In England, private landlords must have the electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years, and give a copy of the report to tenants within 28 days.

How often should homeowners have their electrics tested?

We recommend an EICR at least every ten years for an owner-occupied home, and when you buy a property or before major renovation work.

How long does an EICR take?

A typical house takes around three to four hours. The power will be off for parts of the inspection, and we’ll let you know before we switch it off.

What happens if my report is unsatisfactory?

An unsatisfactory report means at least one issue is coded C1 (danger present), C2 (potentially dangerous) or FI (further investigation needed). We’ll explain each item and quote to put it right. Once the work is done, you’ll get the certificates to show it’s been fixed.
